Reporting Complications after Immunization
Vaccination is most effective in prevention of infectious diseases but may have complications (adverse reactions). Thus, a guardian reporting system was invented to prevent additional damage by immunization through early detection of complications after immunization.
Target immunization of reporting
Tuberculosis (BCG intradermal ), hepatitis B, diphtheria· petussis· tetanus (DTaP, Tdap,Td,DTaP-IPV, DTaP-IPV/Hib), polio (poliomyelitis), measles· mumps· German measles (MMR), Japanese encephalitis, chicken pox, Korean hemorrhagic fever (epidemic hemorrhagic fever), influenza, typhoid, encephalomeningitis, pneumococcus, hepatitis A, human papilloma virus (cervical cancer vaccine)
Time of report
Report immediately if complication after immunization is suspected
Possible complications after immunization
- Local reaction: Abscess at vaccinated region, lymphadenitis, redness at vaccinated region, edema, pain, etc.
- Central nervous system reaction : Acute paralysis, brain syndrome (epileptic seizure, mental fog and abnormal behavior that last more than one day), encephalitis, meningitis, seizure, etc.
- Other reaction: Allergic reaction, anaphylactoid reaction, anaphylactic shock (mental fog, dyspnea), arthritis, systemic disseminated BCG infection, fever, osteitis or myelitis, toxin shock syndrome, septicemia, hypotension· hypoergic syndrome, etc.
