Mayor's Greetings

HOME > Gwangjin-gu Office > About Gwangjin > Mayor's Greetings

Welcome to the clean region of Gwangjin-gu, located upstream Hangang River at the gateway of Eastern Seoul.

At Gwangjin-gu is ‘Achasan Mountain’ where the sun rises first in Seoul, the family theme park ‘Seoul Children’s Grand Park’ and ‘Ttukseom Hangang Park’ where citizens can enjoy both excitement and rest.

The subway lines 2, 5 and 7 pass through Gwangjin-gu, and the district is the strategic traffic point where Dong Seoul Bus Terminal sits as it connects the region to all parts of the country. The three universities of Kunkuk University, Sejong University and the Presbyterian University and Theological Seminary are located in Gwangjin-gu, offering an excellent education infrastructure.

As a new residence-centered city with a low percentage of commercial centers, Gwangjin has a high potential for development and is a future-oriented city where urban growth is feasible. The city’s first priority will be to create policies in urban planning to heighten regional value, plan customized welfare in preparation for the low birth rate and aging, and establish policies for safe living. We will push forward with policies to fortify support for public education and ensure cultural benefits in addition to promoting policies for job creation for youths, women who experienced interruptions in their careers and the older generation. We will make sure that the voices of residents are heard and that there are no inconveniences in people’s lives. We ask for your interest, participation and generous support for the bright future of Gwangjin.

Thank you.

Mayor of Gwangjin-gu, Kim Kyeong-ho
