- Entry Requirement
- Valid passport (Seamen are required to have their identification certificate along with their passports)
- A person with an expired passport will not be allowed to enter the country.
- Departure Inspection
- Foreigners cannot be restricted from leaving Korea of their own free will. However, those found guilty of committing unlawful acts can be barred from departure.
- Some special cases may even require deportation.
- Important matters concerning departure
- Foreigners who have overstayed their permitted sojourn period may leave the country after complying with prescribed procedures at the Immigration Bureau.
- Registered foreigners departing the country for good must return their foreign registration cards during the departure inspection.
- Failure to return the card is a breach of Immigration Act Article 37, and may result in negligence fines. Those wishing to re-enter the country within the granted period of stay must obtain a re-entry permit. There are exceptions for the following countries with which Korea has a re-entry waiver agreement: France, Suriname, Belgium, Netherlands, Luxemburg, Switzerland, Sweden, Denmark, Norway, Finland, Liechtenstein and Germany.
